Things you want to know upfront.
The old TRFv2 is still kicking, limping along, and servicing many tattooers and studios worldwide. It will continue functioning for a while, but we will not support it with updates. It can't be downloaded from the iPad App Store anymore, but purchases can still be made in the app. If you love it, keep at it, but we can't fix her old knocks and wheezes anymore, so the risk is real. We must let her wind down, so if you send for help about TRFv2, please know we can't open the hood on her anymore, so we can't help you.
We'd love for you to make the leap to TRFv3, but change is hard. We don't judge. Who needs one more thing to do? We get it. When it's time, however, you'll want to know this.
This all sounds crazy and complex, but it's not. We get it. Lots of words to read. This is a significant tech upgrade to a powerful tool. Your health and legal compliance is worth your effort. If you set this up over coffee before you open, it will take less than 15 minutes. Readers will win here, so give this some time and attention, and the new TRF will service your studio beautifully for years to come.
Your waivers are safe on your cloud; switching to TRFv3 will not erase or lose them. TRF doesn't erase anything from anywhere, ever. It never has. 'MY WAIVERS ARE LOST' is never a thing with TRF.
If you have 'pending forms' that you need to upload because you haven't paid for more, you'll have to do so, or those forms will vanish, never be uploaded, lost.
If you still own forms in TRFv2 that you paid for, we will credit those to you hours after you update to TRFv3. Yes, it's that easy. The instructions are five lines long and will take you five minutes to submit to us. NOBODY is getting screwed. We are not 'The Man'. We are tattooers like you. If you have recurring monthly subscriptions in TRFv2, either wait until your month ends and unsubscribe via Apple or jump to TRFv3, and we will credit you the one-month crossover period. TRFv3 offers bundles and two subscription options, so finding a similar package is assured. Oh, and our PRO subscription is $30/month cheaper. Thanks for telling your friends so we could drop prices. Keep it up!
We are testing new features in TRFv3 marked as COMING SOON!, some of which require hundreds of users to inform us of our best rollout options. Now we know, we are polishing code, and we will let you know when they drop.
Your former clients who used TRFv2 must fill out fresh waivers for the TRFv3 'Returning Client' feature to function. It takes them five minutes the first time and sub-10 seconds later, and they won't whine about your new toy. When a former client uses new TRF, the app simply doesn't know them yet. It will forever after this one new waiver. Your client's old waivers are NOT erased from your cloud, as TRF never erases anything. New TRF has to learn your people, that's all. The tech reasons have to do with cloud security, so you know, and we got you there. It's cool, your clients won't mind, and your old TRF-made waivers are safe in your cloud.
Set up your TRFv3.
Setting up Tattoo Release Forms App only takes a few minutes.
Q: Who should perform the initial setup of the TRF app?
A: The party with majority ownership and liability for the studio. This ensures accuracy and accountability.
Let's get to it.
You need to know some details about your studio to set up, so read on to prepare wisely.
1. TRF App can be found in the Apple App Store. On your iPad, Search for "Tattoo Release Forms App" and look for our logo. You'll see a few look-alike apps, but TRF is the 11-year-old, tattooer-created original.
2. Once downloaded, you can sign in with Google or Apple. This only needs to be done once, and it saves all your information for all time. If you uninstall TRF, get a new iPad, or even a few, signing in will show your TRF App settings intact.
3. Do this to finish your initial setup of TRF App.
Tap on the Main Menu (the three lines, top right, on the main screen) and tap Settings.
Your Master Password for this initial setup is 1, 2, 3, 4. You can change it at any time in Settings.
You'll be presented with the STUDIO tab, where you'll load the basics about your studio and health codes.
The minimum information required for set up is:
Studio name, both popular and legal
At least one artist's name
At least one cloud service enabled and linked
4. Connect your cloud by tapping the CLOUD tab. This is required to complete your setup. Learn more about connecting your cloud here.
5. TRF is pre-loaded with many legal clauses that are standard to us and the most significant health questions pertinent to the tattoo industry. So you are ready to go. Add yours when you get time.

6. Tap SAVE AND VERIFY, and TRF will reset to the Welcome Screen.
Test your TRFv3 setup.
1. Tap on "New Client" on the Welcome Screen.
2. This is the New Client Flow. Follow the prompts and add your information. Test everything as if you're the client. You'll see it all on your waiver later.
3. Bam! Welcome to the Artist Notes Pane Flow. You are no longer the client; you are now the artist. Enter the passcode (the default is 1, 2, 3, 4 ) unless you changed it in Settings).
5. Upon access, the "Client Health Considerations" screen appears. This screen ensures that critical health details are shown to the artist. You can Preview the Waiver by tapping that button.
6. As the artist, explore the Artist Notes Pane. Add pigments and needles, photograph Supporting Documents, and enjoy yourself. All of these inputs will be included in your waiver.
7. You, the artist, can either sign to complete the form or 'Save For Later' (Save For Later is a subscription feature coming soon). For this test, go ahead and sign and upload. Success!
Check your cloud.
Earlier in SETUP TRF above, you connected a cloud to which your waivers are uploaded. Let's check that out.
If the app for your cloud is on your iPad, go there. Otherwise, navigate to your cloud on your iPad browser and sign in using the login credentials you used to connect TRF app to your cloud.
TRF put a folder called Voluta Digital App [year]Tattoo Release Forms on your cloud. Do you see it? To quickly find the folder, search for it by name.
Tap that folder, and you'll see a folder called Waivers.
Tap that one, and your test waiver will be there. Tap or click on it to expand it in your app or browser and have a look. Nice, right?
You're ready for your first client!
Let your friends play with it.
TRF comes with 10 free waivers. We hope you'll let the other kids in your studio play with it after you do so that everyone is familiar and flowy before unleashing TRF app on your people. Ten forms came with the TRFv3+ download, which should be enough to educate everyone, from artists to owners to health inspectors.
You and other studio staff might take a few minutes to tap the Main Menu Flow (the three-line menu at the top right).
Tap, explore, and share the TRF-made example waiver.

Play with it alone.
Since you started this setup, you are probably considered 'studio management' or some such. This means you can enter your Master Passcode and familiarize yourself with SETTINGS. Tap these links if you need guidance along the way.
